There’s been a tragic car accident involving the Buffalo Bills. On March 15, 2025, two players, wide receiver Damar Johnson and cornerback Elijah Carter, were struck by a speeding vehicle while walking near Delaware Avenue was hit by a black Dodge Charger that ran a red light. Both players were rushed to the Erie County Medical Center but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m., and the driver fled the scene, leading to a high-speed chase by the police.
The suspect, 23-year-old Marcus Rojas, was later arrested after his vehicle crashed into a highway barrier on I-190. Rojas faces multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and reckless endangerment. He has a prior DUI conviction, and authorities suspect alcohol or drugs may have been involved .
The Buffalo Bills organization released an emotional statement mourning the loss of Damar Johnson and Elijah Carter, describing them as “incredible athletes” and “beloved teammates and friends”. The NFL community, including Commissioner Roger Goodell and teammates like Josh Allen, also paid their respects .
