    Mario Cristobal Looks for His First Bowl Win with the Hurricanes

    In his third season as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes, Mario Cristobal is on a quest to secure his first bowl victory since 2019, and his first with Miami.

     

    Last season, the Hurricanes concluded with a 7-5 record and competed in the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers, falling short to the Scarlet Knights in a hard-fought 31-24 loss.

     

    Now, with a 10-2 record (6-2 ACC), the Hurricanes will face the Iowa State Cyclones (10-3, 7-2 Big-12), the Big-12 runner-up, in hopes of achieving an 11-win season for the first time since 2003. Cristobal understands the significance of this bowl game, both for the program’s development and for setting the tone for the future.

    “It’s crucial for the University of Miami to keep progressing by taking advantage of offseason opportunities,” Cristobal said. “It’s been a while since we’ve capitalized on moments like these, and this game represents a chance to grow and learn a lot about our team, our people, and our program as we head into the postseason.”

     

    Cristobal often emphasizes the importance of building momentum throughout the season, and a bowl victory would serve as a strong foundation for next year.
