I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you look stupid calling for John Tortorella to be fired.
The answers don’t it’s what you and the rest of us want to hear, because it’s nothing more than looking for a reason to get angry when we don’t get instant gratification. I find it hard to believe that anyone who played nearly 82 regular season games thinks Tortore is in big trouble here, at least until he gets fired.
This isn’t the NFL, but that’s how we deal with it. . it attracts every other sport, especially in terms of growth. Both the NHL and the NBA take time to make the jump, a culture needs to be cultivated, and teams need to lose. The NFL is complete bullshit. Across the league, teams can go from worst to first, go off the rails or get relief from injuries much more easily. A man misses four games in the NFL and that’s a problem, not so much because of the longer schedule.
I think Tortorella is exhausting. He is a walking cliché of an angry coach and seems to enjoy playing in a city that fights back. I don’t care about the journalist’s fights or press conferences with the guy, because I can already tell what he’s saying. You all win. His approach to the team is different and doesn’t take into account how we feel about this guy.
He is a pain. He is confrontational and loud. He seems more angry than happy.
Who cares?
He is the right man for the job and blaming him for the playoffs is as short-sighted as it gets. Fools want to change for no reason, while mindful people can label responsibility and know when it’s time to move on. Not all shots are created equal. Nick Sirianni should have been shown the door last year after overseeing one of the worst Eagles collapses in recent memory. Brett Brown and Doc Rivers both deserved the door for not fixing the Sixers.

Tortorella did everything he could to get this team to the postseason. He challenged players, sat them down and called them out publicly. He also stood up for them when it was right and showed a more compassionate side as well.
This is the monstrous reason Torts stays in the building – support. Keith Jones and Danny Briere see Tortorella’s voice continue to ring. We don’t know if that will even continue next year, but now there’s a reason to keep the coach who led one of the most successful years in Flyers history.
Look at the player stats compared to other teams. in the league. Look at where Philadelphia’s top scorers stack up against the rest of the NHL – it’s not good. Injuries hurt this team. It hasn’t been easy sailing this season, but Tortorella has kept the ship afloat in his fiery way.
The Flyers currently have a very slim chance of making the playoffs. Some idiots judge the length of a head coach’s season by what’s going on around the league. This is unfair not only to the coach, but also to the conditions.
Culture cannot grow without a core voice. Sometimes it’s a star player, other times it’s a loud and abrasive head coach. The brass at the top understand that a super-young team like the Flyers needs a consistent voice even when it’s screaming in their ears.
The team has run out of gas. It happens to teams that should not be in that situation. Not everyone rides off into the sunset of postseason glory in the final week, some fall short. It’s good to grow from a season that brought more positives than we thought.
Let’s see what former key players are doing to help the current head coach before they hang up their pitchforks and take this season for themselves because it was a failure. Tortorella’s head is exactly what it means.
