There are many moments to be thankful for in a year that saw the Miami Heat unexpectedly go to the NBA Finals.

In the previous 12 months, a lot has occurred in Miami Heat basketball: Trade speculations, hand injuries, slumps and evolutions, an NBA playoffs game seven, an incredible run in the Finals, one of the biggest upsets in the history of the playoffs, and so much more. The Heat’s year was reflected in a few noteworthy performances among the ups and downs as well as the unexpected. These are the top 2023 performances of All U Can Heat.

Jaime Jaquez Jr.’s Christmas Day announcement deserves honorable attention.

It is really impressive for a rookie to lead the Miami Heat against the Philadelphia 76ers in primetime with 31 points. Jaquez was starting in lieu of the injured Jimmy Butler in what was to be his greatest game to date. If Jaquez’s Christmas Day outburst had occurred against a Sixers squad that featured their best player (Joel Embiid was also injured for this game), it most likely would have been ranked higher. The Heat welcomed LeBron James and the Lakers for an intriguing battle in their seventh game of the current season. Bam Adebayo versus Anthony Davis, LeBron versus Jimmy, and Austin Reaves versus Tyler Herro. Reaves (23 points) and Herro (22) played to a virtual draw, as did Butler (28 points, six assists, four rebounds) and LeBron (30 points, three assists, four rebounds). The game was tipped in favor of Miami’s one-point victory by Adebayo’s outstanding performance over Davis. With 22 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists, Adebayo was unstoppable, while AD could only muster nine points and six rebounds. Adebayo actually scored more points in the first quarter than Davis did overall, laying the groundwork with nine points, five assists, and four rebounds. Adebayo made it clear that he is one of the league’s best centers and that he can control the ball on both ends of the court.

In the Eastern Conference finals, the Heat led the Celtics 3-0 at one point, but Boston forced a seventh game by winning the next three. It seemed as though the Heat were losing. Butler’s influence was lessened by his sprained ankle, and they were still grieving for Herro, who had suffered a fractured hand. The talent of the Celtics finally seemed to overcome that of the Heat. However, Caleb Martin came up big in the Garden, outscoring Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with 26 points on 11 of 16 shots, along with three assists, ten rebounds, and a block. Giannis returned in Game 4 after missing Games 2 and 3 due to a back ailment. In a close Milwaukee loss, he scored 26 points, dished out 13 assists, and pulled down 10 rebounds. A victory in Game 5 at home against the Heat may have opened the door for a thrilling series victory. Giannis responded appropriately, putting up a strong showing befitting the former MVP with 38 points and 20 rebounds. In 46 minutes, Butler was the only player who performed better with 42 points on 51.5% shooting, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block. Butler also scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to seal one of the biggest surprises in playoff history.

The Heat headed into Denver and defeated the Nuggets, 111-108, in Game 2 to knot the series in their only victory of the 2023 NBA Finals. The Heat’s victory in the next two games in Miami was sufficient to make people reevaluate their chances of unseating the overwhelming, clear favorite. Despite his 41-point performance, Nikola Jokic had to fight hard to get anything against Bam Adebayo and the Heat defense, finishing with just four assists to five turnovers. Throughout the game, the Nuggets made 39.3% of their 3-pointers, while the Heat made 48.6%. One of the biggest upsets in NBA history occurred when the eighth-seeded Heat defeated the top-seeded Bucks in a series, and Game 4’s 56-point performance by Butler will go down as the round’s high point. With 19 of his 28 shots made, Butler was unstoppable and dominated with jumpers, cutbacks, and post-ups. Butler fought his way to his position, got up, and scored against whatever player the Bucks put in front of him.
