The Arsenal player, according to Gary Neville, reminds him of Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez, but he still needs to get better.
Throughout the Gunners’ 13 Premier League games this season, Jesus has only managed three goals and one assist.
Neville says he “loves” Brazil international Jesus, but he “hasn’t got that instinct in front of goal” and that “sometimes he is everywhere where you don’t want him.” Neville made these remarks on Saturday after Arsenal defeated Liverpool to earn a point.
Neville also believes that Jesus is not connecting effectively with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, two other players in the front three.
Neville stated on his podcast, “I don’t see Jesus, Martinelli, and Saka linking up.” Saka smashes it across when he tries to cross to the back post.
Martinelli doesn’t appear to be storming in at the back post. There is a lot of work to be done. This season, I’ve found myself debating whether Jesus and Eddie Nketiah should be starting strikers for a Premier League winning team or if they should be starting strikers at the conclusion of games.
“I cherish Jesus.” Sincerely, I adore him. I believe he is an excellent player, and I would have enjoyed playing beside him. He possesses elements of both Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney.
However, he lacks that instinct when it comes to goal. He can occasionally be found everywhere you don’t want him to be.
Tevez would dart all over the place, and Rooney would occasionally vanish and wander out to the left wing, but Cristiano Ronaldo would be a productive player up there.
Rooney was also quite productive, but those fantastic front threes are all I can think about.
These three [at Arsenal], not just in terms of goals, don’t really work well together throughout games. That will eventually cost them, in my opinion.
