Roland-Garros DRAMA: Aryna Sabalenka, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, called her “Black Barbie”… but Coco Gauff didn’t scream. She responded, with just 17 calm but sharp words that turned the spotlight on her. The entire internet fell silent. The reporters fell silent. The Detroit Tigers have been actively working to improve their roster ahead of the 2024 MLB season, making strategic signings to address various needs:

    1. Keston Hiura: The Tigers recently signed infielder Keston Hiura to a minor-league contract, including an invitation to Spring Training. Hiura, a former first-round pick, showed promise early in his career with the Milwaukee Brewers but has struggled with consistency and injuries. Detroit is hoping that a change of scenery can help him rediscover his form. Hiura could provide valuable depth for the Tigers’ infield.

    2. Jack Flaherty: In another significant move, the Tigers signed veteran pitcher Jack Flaherty to a one-year deal. Flaherty brings experience and upside to the pitching rotation. This signing highlights the team’s intent to solidify their pitching staff and remain competitive in the AL Central.

    3. Nestor Miranda: During the 2024 international signing period, the Tigers secured Dominican third baseman Nestor Miranda, ranked as MLB.com’s No. 45 international prospect. The 17-year-old prospect, signed for $1.5 million, is considered a strong addition to Detroit’s minor league system and reflects their commitment to building a sustainable talent pipeline.

These signings reflect a mix of short-term fixes and long-term investments, positioning the Tigers to build on their recent improvements and compete more effectively in the upcoming season. For more detailed coverage, check out the sources..
