Cleveland Browns— Paul Skenes, who won the BBWAA’s National League Rookie of the Year award on Monday, said he had a rather calm night ahead of him. Shortly after the winners were revealed, the Pirates pitcher insisted on a Zoom call, saying, “Going to sleep early and getting back to work [Monday].”
We can only hope that his employer has a different strategy in mind—avoid the usual off-season dormancy and start working. I know it’s insane. I’ve spent enough time with this squad to know that expecting activity on November 19 is a dumb idea. However, a lot of Skenes’ actions were surprising at the time, right? –
