According to AL.com, legendary Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Steve Sloan died on Sunday.
Fans expressed their condolences for two reasons. championship-winning quarterback. Sloan received memory care at Orlando Health Phillips Hospital for three months before her death. Sloan also worked as a coach and administrator after his playing career.

Of the many teams Steve Sloan was involved with, the connection to the Alabama Crimson Tide may have been the biggest. He backed up Joe Namath under legendary head coach Paul “Bear Bryant” before stepping into the quarterback role and leading the Crimson Tide to their second national championship.
Sloan finished 10th in the Heisman voting and won the top Sammy Baugh Award of the nation. a passerby , was a consensus All-American and SEC Player of the Year in 1965 when he finally carried the offense. He had just under 1,500 yards passing, 10 pass breakups and just three interceptions. That game led him to the Atlanta Falcons, where he had a short NFL career.
Sloan then spent the first few years of his coaching career as an assistant at Alabama. He was an assistant from 1968-1970 before taking the offensive coordinator position with the Florida State Seminoles.
After nearly two decades as a coach, Sloan moved into an administrative role. From 1987-1989, he was the athletic director of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Those three different jobs at Alabama are the reasons why many sympathetic fans on social media are loyal to the Crimson Tide.

Although one of his biggest influences was the Alabama Crimson Tide, it wasn’t the only fan base that Sloan influenced.
His first head coach was with the Vanderbilt Commodores, whom he returned to as offensive coordinator in 1990. He went on to serve as the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Ole Miss Rebels and Duke Blue Devils.
His coaching career was relatively unsuccessful, but his best time was at Texas Tech. He had his only 10-win season and only conference championship (Southwest Conference) with the Red Raiders. He also won the SWC Coach of the Year that same season (1976). As a result, many Texas Tech fans also took to social media to mourn Sloan’s death.

An ESPN article describes Sloan’s longtime friend Tommy Limbaugh explaining the character of the Alabama Crimson Tide legend.
“You’ll never find anyone who says anything bad about it. Steve Sloan,” Limbaugh said. “You can’t find that person.”
Limbaugh also shared a photo of Sloan on social media, further explaining the nature of his longtime friend.
The sharing of this photo prompted many fans to express their condolences. Along with Limbaugh.
In addition to being the athletic director for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Sloan also served as the AD for the UCF Golden Knights, North Texas Mean Green and Chattanooga Mocs. He was responsible for taking UCF from Division I-AA to Division I-A (now FBS).
