German Masters: Neil Robertson promises to regain his “brutal” form following a decisive victory in the second round.
After destroying Jimmy Robertson 5-0 in the German Masters second round, Neil Robertson says he is determined to get back to his “brutal” best.
The 2010 world champion from Australia is experiencing one of his poorest seasons to date, having lost five times in the first round of ranking events.
But in Berlin, scores of 87, 78, 135 and 86 enabled the 41-year-old to easily defeat world number 36 Jimmy.
“I want the worst for my opponent on the table,” Neil replied.
“I have to return to my vicious ways and bury opponents.
There are no longer any joyful, beaming handshakes. It’s okay to stay away from the table, but I want them to suffer there.”
Despite being placed seventh in the world right now
the Australian is expected to drop out of the top eight
and miss out on the lucrative Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker in Saudi Arabia due to his miserable campaign thus far.
Additionally, he is expected to miss out on the top 16
and will probably need to qualify in order to compete in the World Championship at the Crucible in April.
Neil, who will take against Joe Perry in the third round, stated,
“I’m just really focused on getting the best out of my performances and doing the best that I can do.”
“That involves extremely hard labor, a healthy diet, regular exercise, and restful sleep.
From now on until the end of the season, not a single stone will be left unturned.”
In the other rounds on Tuesday, Judd Trump, the 26-time winner of ranking events, defeated Matthew Stevens 5-3,
while China’s He Guoqiang shocked everyone by defeating three-time world champion Mark Williams 5-1.
Louis Heathcote lost to Mark Allen 5-2, Ali Carter, the reigning champion,
easily overcame Peng Yisong 5-1, John Higgins thrashed Martin Gould 5-0, and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh prevailed 5-4 against Zhang Anda.
