Packers vs. 49ers Inactive: Jaire Alexander EN vs. San Francisco
Green Bay’s Pro Bowl cornerback will suit up for the team on Saturday night as they look to extend their four-game winning streak.
Despite releasing the final injury report of the week on the day the Green Bay Packers declared Thursday questionable,
linebacker Isaiah McDuffie (neck), cornerback Jaire Alexander (ankle) and punter Daniel Whelan (illness) are all good. green and gold vs. San Francisco 49ers.
Alexander’s status is the most important piece of information to consider because of the caliber of player he is and his participation this week.
Unlike McDuffie and Whelan, Alexander never practiced with the team during the build-up to this game.
Alexander was on the injury report last week with an ankle injury that occurred during an “accident” in the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Alexander was able to play against Dallas and aggravated his injury on the field, leading to his questionable status today.
McDuffie also played against the Cowboys and also left the game early.
He was used as the primary starter last week while De’Vondre Campbell played more passes until McDuffie eventually fell out of the lineup.
Look for it against the 49ers today.Whelan was never considered to be in danger of missing that game
because he had only recently gone on injury notice due to an illness, but the team signed former starter Pat O’Donnell to its practice squad.
However, the team did not activate him this week. Instead,
the only player who got a tap on the shoulder to come off the practice squad was outside linebacker Keshawn Banks,
who will make his NFL debut today.
The only other player besides Kingsley Enagbare who won’t play or is a complete scratch against the 49ers
is running back AJ Dillon, who will be out with a thumb injury. With Dillon out, expect a healthy Aaron Jones with Patrick Taylor and Emanuel Wilson backing him up.
Healthy scratches from this game include receiver Malik Heath, tackle Caleb Jones, outside linebacker Brenton Cox Jr. and safety Benny Sapp III.
Cox’s situation is somewhat surprising since he has been on the 53-man roster all season and the team just lost Kingsley Enagbare to a torn ACL.
For whatever reason, the Packers staff has to believe that Banks is a better outside linebacker today than Cox, a highly touted undrafted free agent rookie.
